Warehouse Design
Functional layouts, material flows, capacity calculations and a coordinated warehouse concept.
Independent Warehouse Engineering
DKW works on the client’s side: we analyse processes, design and validate the warehouse system, and define economically justified technical requirements before equipment and integrator selection.
Independent project office
DKW develops, validates and economically justifies warehouse concepts before equipment procurement and implementation begin.
Functional layouts, material flows, capacity calculations and a coordinated warehouse concept.
Scenario modelling, bottleneck analysis and validation of system performance before investment.
Independent comparison of automation technologies, integrators and technical proposals.
CAPEX and OPEX modelling, ROI assessment, tender documentation and implementation supervision.
Service details
Engineering Process
A structured engineering process that converts operational data into a validated warehouse concept and an implementation-ready project.
We analyse current processes, material flows, operational data, constraints and future business requirements.
We develop and compare warehouse concepts, layouts, material flows and automation architectures.
We test the proposed solution under realistic operating, peak-load and growth scenarios.
We assess CAPEX, OPEX, ROI, payback period and the financial risks of each project scenario.
We prepare the tender package, compare proposals and support the client during design and implementation.
Project Stage
Technology Expertise
DKW evaluates technologies independently and combines them according to the operational task, project economics and implementation risks.

High-density storage and automated access to inventory.

Automated movement, routing and sorting of goods.

Technologies for accurate and productive order preparation.

Control, integration, simulation and digital validation tools.
Technology Category
Engineering Experience
Selected engineering challenges demonstrating the practical experience, design approach and technical expertise of the DKW team. Client identities and confidential project information are intentionally omitted; some examples reflect work delivered by team members before DKW was founded.

Transformation of a multi-warehouse distribution complex with different logistics functions into a coordinated technology concept for future development.

Development of a mezzanine replenishment, order picking and shipping system with a unified reusable-container flow between receiving, mezzanine levels and repacking.

Design of a high-density automated frozen-raw-material warehouse integrating rail receiving, deep-freeze storage and balanced supply to the manufacturing block.

About DKW
DKW is an independent engineering office focused on warehouse logistics and automation. We work on the client side: analysing processes, developing the technology concept, validating solutions and defining system requirements before equipment and integrators are selected.
We engineer the system before equipment sales begin.
Warehouse automation does not begin with equipment selection. First, material flows, building constraints, performance requirements and system economics must be understood.
DKW develops this engineering basis together with the client. The result is a technology concept that can be validated, compared and used as the foundation for implementation.
Project decisions are not tied to the need to sell a specific technology, brand or manufacturer.
Engineering design and solution validation are separated from subsequent implementation and construction.
Software and digital tools are treated as elements of the system architecture rather than as products for sale.
Our role
Business task · Processes · Constraints · Investment objectives
Independent engineering · Concept development · Validation · Technical requirements
Equipment · Technologies · Software systems · Manufacturers
Detailed design · Supply · Implementation · Commissioning
Our task is to help the client understand what system really needs to be built before the investment decision is made.
A project should begin with engineering justification, not with an offer for specific equipment.
